  • Tethers by Jack Croxall- 228 pages
The Madman's Daughter has been getting great reviews, but I looked at the reviews of Atom and Eve, and I'm slightly dismayed..Hopefully it will be good for me!

Updates Below:

Thursday:
Currently Reading: The Madman's Daughter by Megan Sheperd
Progress: Page 61
Remember that these were the little snippets of the day where I could sneak in some reading!

Friday:
Currently Reading: The Madman's Daughter by Megan Sheperd
Progress: Page 100

Saturday:
Currently Reading: The Madman's Daughter by Megan Sheperd
Progress: Page 130

Challenge #3:

The smart girl
Her life sad and grey
Even her intelligence cannot change that.

Mother has gone the way of the angels
A father is rumoured to have gone the same way
Daughter is left behind without a clue.
Madness everyone whispered
As they spoke of her father with disgust
No one would spare a glance at the girl,
So instead she was shunned and ignored.

Dying was out of the question
And she refused to sell her soul.
Under the cover of darkness,
Good things (though questionable) finally caught up with her.
Her memories all came, and brought with them,
The boy she had looked upon with wonder.
Even this could not last, because soon it was clear that:
Rumours; they were wrong

Sunday:
Currently Reading: The Madman's Daughter by Megan Sheperd
Progress: Finished

I read a total of 1 book in the debut-a-thon....WHY DID I HAVE TO BE SO BUSY???

Make sure to tell me if you are taking part of the Debut-a-Thon and tell me how it's going!

Bye! xx

ACID by Emma Pass

Hi Everyone!

ACID was a book that I bought a while ago but I finally got round to reading it, after I had got through all my other books, this week. I can say that I extremely enjoyed it!

My Reading List: 22/06/13

Hi Again!

I went shopping today and I ended up going to a charity shop and buying some books, because who can resist an opportunity to buy books at a low price??

Dark Knights and Dingy Castles: I LOVE history. I love historical fiction and I have been reading and collecting all the Horrible Histories books FOR EVER. It is a habit that I'll have my whole life. I have all the normal Horrible Histories books but I don't have all the 'special' ones, so when I found this one, I HAD to buy it....and I did. I love these books like crazy and as you can see by the piece of paper/bookmark I've already started reading it..!

At Bertram's Hotel: I'm starting to think that if I keep on getting addicted to certain books, I'll have no room on my bookshelf. But like it says on my Twitter profile I have an addiction to Agatha Christie books. I just can't get enough of how complex but simple the mystery is and how it is never who you suspect. However, I have always read the Poirot books so this is my first Marple! I'm looking forward to see how Miss Marple solves the case.

Bye!xx

Icons by Margaret Stohl

Hi Everyone!

I finished Icons this week, on Tuesday, to be accurate, but I had a sudden burst of procrastination and I didn't write it when I was supposed to. My twitter feed proves that..

Title: Icons
Author: Margaret Stohl
Series: Icons #1
Published: May 7th 2013
No. of Pages: 428

Your heart beats only with their permission.

Everything changed on The Day. The day the windows shattered. The day the power stopped. The day Dol's family dropped dead. The day Earth lost a war it didn't know it was fighting.

Since then, Dol has lived a simple life in the countryside -- safe from the shadow of the Icon and its terrifying power. Hiding from the one truth she can't avoid.

She's different. She survived. Why?

When Dol and her best friend, Ro, are captured and taken to the Embassy, off the coast of the sprawling metropolis once known as the City of Angels, they find only more questions. While Ro and fellow hostage Tima rage against their captors, Dol finds herself drawn to Lucas, the Ambassador's privileged son. But the four teens are more alike than they might think, and the timing of their meeting isn't a coincidence. It's a conspiracy.

Within the Icon's reach, Dol, Ro, Tima, and Lucas discover that their uncontrollable emotions -- which they've always thought to be their greatest weaknesses -- may actually be their greatest strengths. (-Goodreads)

My Reading List: 20/06/13

Hi Everyone!

I went to a sort of fair thingy ma-bob. You know, where they sell handmade crafts and all that jazz, and to my delight, they were also selling books. Unfortunately, there were no YA books of my liking but I did find these two non-YA books.

There is honestly no point in doing a little "Why I got this book" thing for both of these because they are by the same author.
Everyone loves The Da Vinci Code & Angels and Demons, so I thought that it would be silly of me not to read them.
A while back I got The Da Vinci code from the library but then I discovered that Angels and Demons is actually the first book in the series. But now..I have these all to myself and can read them whenever I want!! YAY!

Bye! xx

Shadow by MIchael Morpurgo

Hello!

I think that Michael Morpurgo is an author that always writes something amazing. Schools actually use his books for class reading, and we all know how picky schools can be!

 Title: Shadowed
Author: Michael Morpurgo
Published: September 30th 2010
No. of Pages: 288

A stunning and moving novel from Michael Morpurgo, the nation’s favourite storyteller – featuring the bravest dog in all the world…
This is the story of Aman, as told in his own words – a boy from Afghanistan fleeing the horror of the Afghan war. When a western dog shows up outside the caves where Aman lives with his mother, Aman is initially repulsed – it is not customary for people to keep dogs as pets in his part of the world. But when Aman and his mother finally decide to make a bid for freedom, the dog Aman has called Shadow will not leave their side. Soon it becomes clear: the destinies of boy and dog are linked, and always will be…

Goddess by Josephine Angelini

Hi Again!

So this is it, the end of the Starcrossed series, and the last time I see the characters that I have grown to love and swoon over.. Yes, I do have a book hangover..no judging..

Title: Goddess
Author: Josephine Angelini
Series: Starcrossed #3
Published: May 28th 2013
No. of Pages: 421

After accidentally unleashing the gods from their captivity on Olympus, Helen must find a way to re-imprison them without starting a devastating war. But the gods are angry, and their thirst for blood already has a body count.

To make matters worse, the Oracle reveals that a diabolical Tyrant is lurking among them, which drives a wedge between the once-solid group of friends. As the gods use the Scions against one another, Lucas’s life hangs in the balance. Still unsure whether she loves him or Orion, Helen is forced to make a terrifying decision, for war is coming to her shores.

In Josephine Angelini’s compelling conclusion to the masterfully woven Starcrossed trilogy, a goddess must rise above it all to change a destiny that’s been written in the stars. With worlds built just as fast as they crumble, love and war collide in an all-out battle that will leave no question unanswered and no heart untouched.

                                      flying with joy.

Starcrossed and Dreamless by Josephine Angelini

Hi Everyone!

Since I'm currently reading Goddess, the third book in the series, I thought it would be nice to do a double review of the first two books. Since a normal review would just be well, normal, I decided to make it GIF filled. Twitter also agrees!
Titles: Starcrossed, Dreamless
Author: Josephine Angelini
Series:Starcrossed #1 & #2
Opinion: This series is amazing and I absolutely love it! Go read it NOW!

(Description of Starcrossed)

Helen Hamilton has spent her entire sixteen years trying to hide how different she is—no easy task on an island as small and sheltered as Nantucket. And it's getting harder. Nightmares of a desperate desert journey have Helen waking parched, only to find her sheets damaged by dirt and dust. At school she's haunted by hallucinations of three women weeping tears of blood . . . and when Helen first crosses paths with Lucas Delos, she has no way of knowing they're destined to play the leading roles in a tragedy the Fates insist on repeating throughout history.

As Helen unlocks the secrets of her ancestry, she realizes that some myths are more than just legend. But even demigod powers might not be enough to defy the forces that are both drawing her and Lucas together—and trying to tear them apart.

This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen

Hello Everyone!

I realise that once people read this review I will probably become an outcast in the bookish society. Why?? I didn't particularly like a Sarah Dessen book, and yes, it was my first one. When twitter found this out I was nearly made to go hide in a hole, but Amy was nice and let me off :)

When it comes to relationships, Remy doesn't mess around. After all, she's learned all there is to know from her mother, who's currently working on husband number five. But there's something about Dexter that seems to defy all of Remy's rules. He certainly doesn't seem like Mr. Right. For some reason, however, Remy just can't seem to shake him. Could it be that Remy's starting to understand what those love songs are all about?

3 stars: Page tweets once, he didn't have strong
feelings for this book. It was just ok.

My Reading List: 8/06/13

Hello Everyone,

So I recently got two books from the library and I also bought two books today. This also means that I have A LOT to read since I still haven't read Goddess or Icons..

The Da Vinci Code: I think that this is a book that everyone has to read, so I decided to finally pick it up. I love the whole premise of the story but I think it's going to take me ages to read so maybe I'll have to schedule a few things ahead to keep the blog busy!

The Madman's Daughter: I am saving this book to read as part of Books of Amber's Debut-a-thon so I'll only be reading this at the end of June. I have heard good things though!

Acid: I discovered this book after Lucy @ Queen of Contemporary was saying how much she wanted to read it. Therefore she has convinced me..!

The 5th Wave: This book has a lot of pressure to be good because so many bloggers have praised this book. Also I REALLY want to read it, and will probably ignore everything once I do..!

What do you think of my choices? Have you read any of them?

Bye! xx
